What's the difference between sterling and silverplate leichters?

Sterling silver leichters are solid .925 silver — they carry hallmarks, tarnish slowly, and polish up like new. Silverplate is a thin silver layer bonded over a base metal; it looks almost identical for a fraction of the price, but the finish can wear over decades. For a chasunah gift that will be passed down, sterling is the classic choice. For a first home or travel set, silverplate is beautiful and practical.

How many candles should a set hold?

Most kallahs start with two candles at marriage, then add one candle per child. Families with several children often light five to nine candles weekly. Our multi-light leichters and candelabras come in 3, 5, 7, and 9-light configurations. If you're buying for a newlywed, a 2-light pair is traditional; for a family home, ask us about matching extender sets.

Do you engrave candlesticks?

Yes — most sterling pieces can be engraved with a name, Hebrew initials, or a date (chasunah, bar mitzvah, etc.). Engraving is done in-house and typically adds 3–5 business days to delivery. Contact us before ordering to confirm engravability on your specific piece.

How do I polish silver candlesticks?

Use a non-abrasive silver polish (Goddard's, Wright's, or Hagerty's) with a soft cotton cloth — never a paper towel or scrubbing pad. Polish in straight lines, not circles. Rinse thoroughly in warm water, dry immediately, and store wrapped in anti-tarnish cloth between uses. Sterling darkens slowly; weekly use actually slows the tarnishing process.
