Bein Gavra Torah Cover Covers the Sefer Torah Between Aliyos
Pickup at both Lakewood stores
Description
The cover that goes over the open Sefer Torah between aliyos. When the baal korei stops and the next oleh is called up, the klaf sits exposed on the bimah, and this is what is laid over it in the interval. It is cut for that job specifically — wide enough to cover the open columns, light enough to be lifted off and put back a dozen times across one krias haTorah without becoming a production.
Every shul and beis medrash needs one, and most are making do with something never intended for the purpose. A proper bein gavra cover keeps the klaf off the bimah cloth, keeps hands away from the parchment, and gives the pauses between aliyos the same dignity as the reading. It also spares the sefer the slow wear that comes from lying open under lights with sleeves passing over it.
This is a standard shul purchase and a common dedication piece, the kind of thing bought in memory of someone who was a fixture at that bimah, or given by a family after a yahrtzeit. A beis medrash running several minyanim on Shabbos morning can reasonably use more than one.
