BitterSweet by Devora Rand, Hardcover

Goldie Feldman thought she was a normal eleven-year-old until one day changed everything. Over a year and a half she writes about the diabetes that invaded her life, why being called sweetie makes her cry and why chocolate from her grandmother keeps her up at night. Devora Rand's 344-page hardcover shows her brave and full of smiles.

Eleven year old Goldie Feldman thinks she's a normal girl. But on what could have been a very normal day, she found out that she is anything but...

When her father calls her "sweetie" – she starts to cry.

When her mother offers her to go on a vacation retreat together – she is not happy.

When her grandmother buys her chocolate –

she can't fall asleep at night.

Does that sound strange to you? That's because you haven't yet read this book. Over the course of a year and a half, Goldie writes about the diabetes that invaded her life without permission, and what happens to her because of it – both good and not so good. Not always are Goldie's days sweet, but they are always brave, believing and full of smiles.

Just like she is.
