Dinosaur Pixelated Kippah / Yarmulke

The Dinosaur Pixelated Kippah is a black cotton dinosaur yarmulke for boys, made in 8 sizes at $9.99. The print packs T-rexes, triceratops, stegosaurus, long-necked sauropods and pterodactyls across a near-black ground. Instead of solid shapes, each dinosaur is filled with a speckled, halftone texture in teal, lime green, orange, navy or pale sky blue, which is what gives the design its pixelated look. The top view shows the four panels meeting at the crown with the dinosaurs running in every direction. Sold by Judaica Square, shipping from Lakewood, NJ.

How this compares

Best for

• A dinosaur fan who has outgrown baby-style cartoons
• School days, since the black ground hides scuffs
• Museum trips and zoo outings
• An older boy or teen, with sizes up to 6 and an 18 cm flat

Not the right choice if

• You want a bright, light-coloured kids' print
• A formal shul or Shabbos table where a plain dark kippah is expected
• A black-velvet-only school; this is printed cotton
• You need a flat size larger than 18 cm

Why customers choose it

Many dinosaur prints look like they belong on a toddler's pyjamas. This one uses a black ground and grainy, screen-printed fills, which makes it feel more like a graphic T-shirt and lets it carry on into the older-boy sizes. There is a lot of variety in the species, so a child can spot his favourite. The dark background is practical too: it shows far less dirt than a cream or white print after a week of school.

Size guide

Sizing is guidance, not a promise — heads vary. When you are between two sizes, the larger one sits better.

Frequently asked questions

Which dinosaurs are on the pixelated kippah?
The print includes T-rex, triceratops, stegosaurus, long-necked sauropods and flying pterodactyls, each filled with a speckled texture.

Why is it called pixelated?
The dinosaurs are not solid colour. Each one is filled with a dotted, halftone texture, so up close they look grainy, like an enlarged digital image.

Is this dinosaur kippah good for older boys?
Yes. The black ground and graphic style suit boys up to their teens, and the range goes up to size 6.

How does it compare to the Colored Dinos kippah?
Colored Dinos is a brighter, more cartoon-like print. The pixelated version is darker and has a textured, printed-T-shirt look.

What size fits a seven-year-old?
Size 3 usually fits a child of six or seven. Choose size 4 if he is older or has a larger head.
