Aleph Beis Kippah, Light Blue Yarmulke

The Light Blue Aleph Beis Kippah is a sky-blue cotton Hebrew-letter yarmulke for boys, sold in 8 sizes at $9.99. White block letters of the aleph beis are packed across every panel in a jumble of sizes, from large letters like alef, bet, shin and tzadi to small ones tucked between them. There is no other colour, so the kippah is simply bright turquoise-blue and white. The top view shows the letters running in every direction across the four panels, and the rim is the same printed cotton. Sold by Judaica Square, shipping from Lakewood, NJ.

How this compares

Best for

• An upsherin, when a boy begins learning his letters
• Cheder and kindergarten, where aleph beis is the lesson
• A gift from a morah or grandparent
• Brothers of different ages, from size 1 to 6

Not the right choice if

• A formal Shabbos look
• An older boy who wants something less childlike
• You want the letters to spell a word; they are a random mix
• You need a flat size above 18 cm

Why customers choose it

An aleph beis kippah is a classic upsherin choice because it marks the moment a child starts learning Torah letters. This one is bright and clear: white letters on a single clean blue, big enough for a child to point at and name. The mix of large and small letters keeps it lively without adding extra colours. For a more grown-up take on the same idea, the navy version with letters embroidered around the rim is the natural next step.

Size guide

Sizing is guidance, not a promise — heads vary. When you are between two sizes, the larger one sits better.

Frequently asked questions

Why is an aleph beis kippah popular for an upsherin?
The upsherin is when a boy begins learning the Hebrew letters, so a kippah covered in them marks the occasion.

Do the letters spell anything?
No. They are a random mix of Hebrew letters in different sizes, not words or a sentence.

How does it compare to the Aleph Beis Large Font kippah?
The Large Font design uses letters in several shades of blue on a darker royal blue. This one is white letters on bright sky blue, so it looks lighter.

Which size fits a three-year-old?
Choose size 1 for a toddler of roughly two or three, or size 2 for a child of four or five.

Can his Hebrew name be embroidered on it?
Yes, in Hebrew or English, with no minimum order. Allow 10 to 14 days plus shipping.

Want it embroidered? No minimum order — WhatsApp 732-444-3111 or email, and we'll set it up.
