KosherLamp® MAX Shabbos Reading Lamp, Blue

A blue lamp brightens a child's bedroom or a dorm desk, and the twist control is simple enough for an older child to handle on their own over Shabbos.

How you use it

Plug the lamp in and flip the thumb switch on before Shabbos. From then on the light never gets switched. Instead, you turn the outer shade: line its opening up with the light window when you want to read, and turn it away when you want the room dark. The shade is its own piece, separate from the lamp, and the base is built to stay still while you turn it.

Good to know

• Kosher Innovations says it consulted poskim, among them Rabbi Shlomo Miller of Toronto, on every KosherLamp version. Ask your own rabbi how your family should use it.
• The maker recommends LED replacement bulbs over CFLs, because CFLs run hotter and can make the shade brittle over time.
• If the shade ever cracks, a KosherLamp replacement shade is sold separately.
