Sori's Story: An Amazing Life of Survival & Faith Devora Gliksman and Sori Kraus (Hardcover)

Eight-year old Sori Bernfeld and her younger sister Ruti are enjoying a charmed childhood. Born into wealth and prominence, and raised by loving parents and close-knit extended family in Bratislava, Czechoslovakia, they must suddenly run away to nearby Hungary in a desperate attempt to escape the Nazis. Miraculously, they manage to stay one step ahead of the enemy by constantly changing identities and fleeing to the rooftop in the middle of the night. Smuggled out of the Munkacevo ghetto, they pose as gentile children, and eventually leave Budapest with the famous Kasztner Transport. Diverted to Bergen-Belsen for six harrowing months, they witness the awesome holiness of the Satmar Rebbe and are eventually transported to Switzerland, on their way to Palestine and the establishment of the new state. Here is a true firsthand account of deep faith and bitachon, of incredible Divine providence and inspiring determination to serve Hashem. Based on the interviews of Rosalyn Livshin and written by the renowned author Devora Gliksman, “Sori’s Story” is rich with historical and biographical detail as it chronicles wondrous events in traumatic times, seen through the eyes of a child. Fascinating and engrossing, it will touch your heart and soul as no other book can.
