Pre-filled tealights take the whole production out of oil lighting. There is no bottle to pour, no wick to float, no measuring by eye to guess whether it will last — you set the cup down, light it, and it burns.
Each one runs about four and a half hours, which covers licht bentschen through the end of a Friday night meal, a Yom Tov table, or a yahrtzeit evening. Fifty to a pack is a serious supply: a season of Shabbosos for a small table, or a single Yom Tov for a shul or a large family.
The plastic cup contains the oil and keeps it off your candlesticks and cloth, and it drops neatly into a standard tealight holder or a glass cup. When it burns out you throw the cup away — nothing to scrape or scrub.
