Description
A lucite top on gold legs, with the top set in white leather and worked embroidery, design number 414. It stands about fourteen inches high, which lifts the menorah clear of the surface it is on and puts the flames at a better height for a window. The lucite and the gold together keep it from looking heavy despite the height.
The height is the practical part. A menorah set directly on a windowsill or a side table is often too low to be seen properly from outside, and oil menoros in particular need to be up and away from anything that can catch. Fourteen inches solves both. It folds down for storage, which matters for a piece used eight nights a year and then put back in a closet for eleven months.
White leather with embroidery is a dress finish rather than a utilitarian one, and it holds up to the wax and oil that inevitably reach the table better than fabric does. Wipe it down at the end of the eight nights before it goes away.
