Description
The Yechi 4 Panel Black Velvet Kippah is a black velvet yarmulke for men and boys with gold-tone Hebrew embroidery, sold in 7 sizes at $9.99. The Hebrew words of the Yechi proclamation, beginning “Yechi Adoneinu Moreinu v’Rabbeinu”, are stitched in a pale gold thread in a ring around the lower part of the crown, just above a narrow black rim. Seen from above, the text runs continuously around all four panels. Sold by Judaica Square, shipping from Lakewood, NJ.

- Boys from size 2 who want to match their father
Not the right choice if
- You need a size 1 or a flat-cut kippah
- You want a plain kippah without text
- You want a lighter summer fabric; see the linen version
- You want a washable fabric
Why customers choose it
The lettering is the whole point of this kippah, and black velvet gives it the most formal setting. The gold-tone thread stands out clearly against the pile without the harshness of bright yellow, and the text circles the lower crown so it reads from any side. The linen and terylene versions carry the same words for weekday or summer wear.
Size guide
| Size | Typical fit |
|---|---|
| 2 | Young child, roughly 4–5 years |
| 3 | Child, roughly 6–7 years |
| 4 | Older child, roughly 8–10 years |
| 5 | Teen and most adult men — the most-ordered size |
| 6 | Larger adult head |
| 7 | Larger than size 6, for a bigger adult fit |
| 8 | Larger than size 6, for a bigger adult fit |
Sizing is guidance, not a promise — heads vary. When you are between two sizes, the larger one sits better.

How does velvet compare with the linen Yechi kippah?
