Description
Two men flee through the devastated Jewish quarter of Budapest under Austrian cannon fire: Rabbi Tzvi Ashkenazi, who would one day be known as the Chacham Tzvi, and Rabbi Amos Strasbourg. The friendship they form in tragedy and danger lasts a lifetime.
Midnight Intruders follows the Chacham Tzvi's stormy life alongside the plots of Nechemiah Chayun, a disciple of the false messiah Shabbesai Tzvi, until the two clash in Amsterdam in one of the great communal uproars of European Jewish history. Avner Gold blends historical figures with fictional characters in this Strasbourg Saga novel.
