About travel menorahs
A travel menorah lets you light wherever Chanukah finds you: a dorm room, a hotel, a relative's home or a Shabbaton. This collection gathers compact, folding and lightweight menorahs, from a complete olive oil kit to tin sets and slim folding designs, each checked against its listing for size and construction.
Start with how you travel. A complete kit suits a hotel or a hospital stay, a folding or box style menorah suits a carry-on, and a tin or strip menorah is an easy spare for a dorm or a guest room. Small 6 to 8 inch menorahs in metal or silver plate round out the page for families who want a real menorah in the suitcase.

Common questions
What makes a menorah good for travel?
A small footprint, light weight and a safe way to pack it. Folding menorahs, box style menorahs and tin sets are made to close up for a bag, and small metal menorahs of 6 to 8 inches fit easily in a suitcase. Check the size on each listing.
Can I light a menorah in a hotel room?
Ask the hotel first. Many hotels do not allow open flames in guest rooms, and some arrange a lighting in the lobby. If lighting is allowed, set the menorah on a tray or foil on a nonflammable surface, away from curtains and bedding, and never leave the lights unattended.
What fuel do travel menorahs use?
It depends on the model. The Ohr Lights On-the-Go set uses pre-filled olive oil cups, the tin tealight set comes with mini tealights, and others take standard Chanukah candles or oil cups. Each listing states what it holds.
What about Friday night away from home?
Chanukah 2026 begins Friday night, December 4, and the eighth night is Friday, December 11. On Friday the menorah is lit before the Shabbos candles, so bring oil or candles that will burn well into the night. Ask your rav for the exact times.
Can an LED menorah be used where flames are not allowed?
An LED menorah can be a display, but most halachic authorities hold that it does not fulfill the mitzvah of lighting. Ask your rav what to do when you cannot light with a flame.
