The compact version of the Chanukah sand timer, running the same thirty minutes in a smaller frame. Flip it as the last light is kindled and the half hour keeps itself while everyone eats.
Small enough to stand between the menorahs when several children are lighting on one windowsill, and light enough to bring along to a mesibah or to the in-laws for the night you are not home.
For children it does something a phone timer cannot: they can see the half hour going down, which settles the question of whether the candles can be left yet.
