Description
The Am Yisrael Chai Green Kippah is a four-panel emerald green yarmulke with the Hebrew words עם ישראל חי embroidered on the front, sold in 9 sizes (dome 1 to 6 plus 16, 18 and 20cm flat) at $9.99. The fabric has a visible crosswise slub like linen, in a deep, grassy emerald. How this compares
| Kippah | Material | Season / weight | Formality | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Am Yisrael Chai Green (this one) | Green linen-look weave | Spring and summer | Everyday | A single, distinctive green with the phrase in block Hebrew |
| Am Israel Chai Kippah / Yarmulke | Denim, linen or leather | Year-round | Everyday to smart | English Am Yisrael Chai lettering shaped into a Star of David |
| Hunter Green Linen Kippah – Olive Tone Yarmulke | Olive green linen | Spring and summer | Everyday | A plain army-olive linen with no lettering |
Best for
- Someone who wants Am Yisrael Chai in Hebrew rather than English
- A colour that stands out from the usual navy and black
- Spring, summer and outdoor events, where linen-look fabric feels light
- Father and son sets, with sizes from 1 to 20cm flat
Not the right choice if
- A shul or school with a black or navy kippah rule
- Someone who wants a blue and white Israel look
- A formal wedding outfit; the green and slub weave are casual
- A buyer who needs a size 7 or larger flat
Why customers choose it
Most Israel-themed kippot are blue and white. This one takes the phrase Am Yisrael Chai and puts it on a saturated emerald green, which makes it feel personal rather than a flag. The block Hebrew letters are stitched in silver-grey rather than white, so they show clearly without glaring. The textured, linen-like weave keeps it light for warmer months.

Frequently asked questions
What exactly is embroidered on it?
The Hebrew words עם ישראל חי, Am Yisrael Chai, on three lines in block letters, with a very small Star of David inside the first letter.
What does the fabric feel like?
It has a slubbed, linen-like weave with a crosswise texture, light and slightly dry to the touch rather than smooth.
Is the thread white?
It is a soft silver-grey, lighter than the green so it reads clearly, but not bright white.
How does it differ from the Am Israel Chai star kippah?
That one spells the phrase in English letters shaped into a star and comes in six fabrics. This is Hebrew lettering on green only.
What size for a bar mitzvah boy?
Most thirteen-year-olds wear size 4 or 5. For a flatter look, choose the 18cm flat.
