White Antique Velvet Shtender Cover Fitted 13.5 x 16.5 Top

Antique velvet in white, which is a different material from plain white velvet in the way it takes light. The antique finish carries a faint variation across the surface rather than reading as one flat colour, so it holds its shape visually from the back of a shul instead of washing out under the lights over the amud.

The cut is 13.5 by 16.5 inches on the top, fitted at the two back corners, with a six inch drop on each side. Check the shtender against those numbers before ordering, since the fitted corners mean it is made to a size rather than thrown over whatever is there.

White comes out for the Yamim Noraim, when the amud, the paroches and the aron are all changed over together and the shul that has planned ahead is not scrambling in Elul. It is worth owning one white cover alongside a year round one rather than trying to make a single cover serve both, because a white amud cover that has been in use all year no longer looks white by Rosh Hashana.
