Mini Besomim with Whole Cloves
Whole fresh cloves rather than ground spice, which is what most people mean when they picture besomim: a handful of dark buds that release scent when you roll them between your fingers and keep releasing it for months rather than fading after a season.
The container has a wide mouth opening. That is the practical difference between this and a narrow-necked spice box — at Havdalah the container goes down the table and several people take a smell in turn, and a wide opening lets a child get a hand in without tipping cloves onto the tablecloth.
