Floating wicks are the simplest way to light with olive oil: the flower-shaped float holds the wick upright at the surface, so all you do is drop it into a glass of oil and touch a flame to it.
The flower shape spreads the float's contact across the surface, which keeps the wick standing straight instead of tipping over against the side of the glass and drowning halfway through the night. That stability is the whole difference between a clean burn and relighting mid-meal.
Fifty wicks in a pack covers Chanukah several times over — eight nights uses forty-four with the shamash — and the leftovers carry into Shabbos and Yom Tov neironim through the year. Store the pack dry and they keep indefinitely.
