Medium is the size most oil menorahs actually take. If your glasses came with the menorah and you have never measured them, this is the set to start with before reaching for the large or the small.
You get nine metal holders, one per cup including the shamash, and fifty cotton wicks to feed them. The metal holders last for years; the wicks are what you replace, and fifty is more than a single Chanukah needs.
The holder does the quiet work of keeping the wick vertical and the flame off the side of the glass. Cotton takes the flame quickly and burns evenly down without a lot of smoke.
