Navy Velvet Shtender Cover Fitted 13.5 x 16.5 Top with a 6-Inch Drop

Navy velvet cut to 13.5 by 16.5 inches across the top, fitted at the two back corners so it grips the amud instead of sliding forward, and hanging a further six inches down each side. Navy is the colour a shul takes when it wants the amud dressed year round rather than only for the Yamim Noraim.

Measure the shtender before ordering. The fitted back corners mean this is cut to a shape rather than draped, so a top that is substantially wider or narrower than 13.5 by 16.5 will not sit the way it should. The six inch drop is what covers the front edge and the sides, which is where the wear actually shows on an amud that a chazan leans on several times a day.

A cover does two jobs at once. It protects the wood underneath from years of hands, seforim and candle wax, and it gives the amud a finished look without the expense of refinishing or replacing it. For a shul with an older amud that is structurally fine but tired at the edges, it is the cheapest repair there is.
