Description
The slit-neck cut in boys sizes 8 to 16, two holes per corner, keshiras Ashkenaz, made up in 65% polyester and 35% cotton. The slit opens at the front rather than pulling over the head, which is a small thing until you are dealing with a twelve-year-old who is already late and does not want his hair mussed.
Strings are thin avodas yad, thick avodas yad, or bli. Thin is the everyday hand-tied string and what most boys in this range wear; thick is heavier and more visible below a jacket, which some boys approaching bar mitzvah actually want. Bli sends the beged with empty corners for strings you supply.
The blend is chosen for laundry, not for feel. Permanent press means it comes through a wash without an iron, and at this age a beged is going through the wash constantly. This is the sensible weekday pair for the years running up to a bar mitzvah, and it is inexpensive enough to keep three in the drawer so nobody is hunting for one on a Tuesday morning.
