Description
Hand-tied thin avodas yad on a cotton beged in boys sizes — the same kind of strings a grown man wears, on a beged cut for a five-year-old. Some families will not put machine strings on a child's tzitzis, and this is the listing for them. One hole per corner, keshiras Ashkenaz, plain white 100% cotton.
Pick the neck as well as the size. Round neck pulls on over the head; slit neck opens at the front and is easier on a boy who fights getting dressed. Sizes 2 through 7. Bli is offered too, so the beged can arrive without strings and be tied at home or by the person your family uses — a common way to do it when a first pair is being prepared for an upsherin.
Cotton is the only sensible fabric for a child wearing a beged from morning until bedtime. It breathes in the summer and goes in with the regular wash. Keep a second one in the drawer; between the laundry and the inevitable ripped corner, one beged in a size rarely lasts the year.
