Description
A hundred and forty-three pages at 6 by 6 inches — square, substantial, and holding kiddush, benching and zemiros for Shabbos and for every Yom Tov of the year in a single volume. The cover is a modern treatment rather than a traditional one, and it comes in gold or silver.
The tabbing is the feature. Each Yom Tov's zemiros is divided off with a side tab, so the booklet opens straight to Rosh Hashanah, or to Chanukah, or to Shavuos, without anyone at the table thumbing through 143 pages to find where the singing starts. That is the difference between zemiros being sung and zemiros being skipped.
Two decisions: gold or silver on the cover, and nusach Ashkenaz or Eduth Mizrach inside. Because it holds the whole year, it works as a simcha souvenir regardless of when the simcha falls — a bar mitzvah in Elul and a sheva brachos in Nissan can both hand out the same booklet, and guests keep using it at their own tables long afterwards.
