Description
A wool beged finished with double fringes — two rows rather than one, giving the hem more body and a visibly heavier finish than a plain wool beged. Slit neck, two holes at each corner. The fringe is the detail people notice first, and it is the reason this one sits above the standard wool pairs on price.
Sizes 18 through 28, with thin avodas yad, thick avodas yad, or bli. Thick strings and double fringes together make for a beged that hangs with real weight; thin keeps it more restrained. Bli leaves the corners empty for strings you supply.
Wool is what a man buys when he is not buying on price. It is warm through the winter, it sits properly on the shoulders, and for those who follow the view that a beged should be wool it is the only option worth discussing. The slit neck is the cut most wool wearers prefer, since it goes on without dragging the wool over your head. This is a natural Shabbos beged and a common bar mitzvah or chosson purchase.
