Description
A full 100% wool beged in boys sizes 8 through 16, slit neck, two holes at each corner, keshiras Ashkenaz. These are the years when a boy moves from a child's beged to what is essentially a small adult one, and putting him in wool is a deliberate decision rather than a default — either it is what the family wears, or it is being bought for Shabbos.
Sizes 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16. Thin avodas yad comes hand-tied, or take it bli and have the strings put on by whoever your family uses, which is the usual way to order when the strings matter more than the beged. The slit neck opens at the front so it goes on without being dragged over his head.
Wool at this age costs more than poly-cotton and it should be bought as the Shabbos beged, with something cheaper carrying the weekdays. It is the natural thing to buy in the year or two before a bar mitzvah, when a boy is starting to dress the way he will as a man.
