Description
The swirl design on navy velvet, with Shabbos embroidered at the center and a rope trimming running around the edge. On navy the metallic thread carries the whole pattern, and the velvet pile gives the swirls a depth they do not have on a flat ground. This is the version of #230 for a darker, more traditional table setting.
Thread comes in silver or gold. Silver against navy is the cooler and more common pairing; gold warms it considerably and works better if your becher and candlesticks are gold. Sizes are large at 19.5x23.5, small at 14.5x17.5 and medium at 15.5x19.5, so there is a fit for a short board and for a table set for company.
Design 230 runs as a bencher cover, a challah board and a tallis and tefillin bag as well. Navy benchers in the same swirl and the same thread are a standard order for a bar mitzvah or a chasuna, and the cover on the table ties the whole thing together.
