Description
Linen is the quiet end of the Malchut range. Design 846 puts fine embroidery and sterling crystals onto a linen ground, and the fabric does not compete — no woven brocade pattern underneath, no velvet pile pulling the light around, just a flat neutral surface with the stitchwork sitting clearly on top of it. On a table that is already busy with silver, wine and flowers, that restraint is often what people are looking for.
Sizes are large at 19.5 by 23.5, medium at 15.5 by 19.5 and small at 14.5 by 17.5. Linen drapes more softly than leather and holds a fold, so a larger cover falls over the edges of a board rather than standing off it. Take that into account if you like the cover to sit crisply rather than loosely.
A neutral cover is also the easier one to buy as a gift, since it does not have to be matched to a colour scheme you have not seen. It works against a white cloth, a patterned one, or a bare wood table.
