Description
An oval laid over a square inset, outlined in quilting worked from crushed velvet, with brocade carrying the rest of the face and sterling crystals set into the design. The geometry is the appeal: the square inset gives the cover its structure, the oval softens it, and the quilted line between them catches light along its ridge so the shape stays visible from across the room.
Two sizes, small at 15x17.5 and large at 19.5x23.5. The oval fills the small almost entirely, which makes for a tight, graphic cover; on the large there is brocade ground around it and the design reads more formally. Both sit well over a pair of challos or a full board.
Design 577 has an unusually wide run of matching pieces — a challah board, a matzah cover and a siddur cover are all made in it. The siddur cover is the one worth noting, since it means the pattern is not confined to the table but travels to shul as well.
