- This work is a collection of letters - communications from the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of blessed memory - to the people of our time. Although these letters are distinctly Torah communications, the Rebbe composed these not as lectures or essays, but as personal and timely messages for the specific people, places, and times as spelled out in the salutation: "To the Sons and Daughters of Our People Israel, Everywhere."
- The Rebbe began sending these letters, in advance of the High Holidays of 5711 (1950), and continued for the next forty-one years, primarily around the High Holiday and Passover seasons.
- The letters set the tone for the upcoming holidays, with the Rebbe shedding light on particular spiritual meanings, demands, and opportunities of the season, urging us to contemplate the messages highlighted in the letter as we prepare to reexperience that special time.
