Yom Kippur at Judaica Square

Kittels, Machzorim, and the Holiest Day of the Year

Yom Kippur is the yom hakadosh — a full day of tefillah, teshuvah, and 25 hours of fasting. Judaica Square stocks kittels in every size, the ArtScroll and Koren YK machzor, gartels, yarmulkes in white satin, kapporos siddurim, and the silver Kiddush cup for motzei Yom Kippur. Order by August 20 for pre-YK delivery.

Kittels — the white garment of Yom Kippur

A kittel is worn by men on Yom Kippur (and by the ba'al korei and chazzan on RH) as a sign of white purity and a reminder of our ultimate tachrichim. Our kittels are available in:

  • Cotton-polyester blend — machine washable, practical for the younger generation
  • Pure cotton — breathable, traditional
  • Silver-embroidered collar — the mehudar choice, popular among chassanim

Sizes small to 3XL. A chosson kittel gift is a classic wedding gift from a kallah's family.

Before Yom Kippur — kapporos and seudah hamafseket

Kapporos siddurim (with or without the chicken minhag), tzedakah boxes for kapporos money, and a simple but beautiful pre-fast seudah setting — we have everything. White tablecloths, white napkins, and ceramic dishes for a table that reflects the day's sanctity.

FAQs

What size kittel do I need?

Take your chest measurement in inches. Small = 36–38, Medium = 40–42, Large = 44–46, XL = 48–50, 2XL = 52–54. Kittels are designed to be roomy enough to wear over a suit.

Should I buy a silver-embroidered or plain kittel?

Both are mehudar. Silver-embroidered is popular for chassanim and for those whose minhag is to dress the kittel up for YK. Plain is traditional, especially in chassidish and yeshivish circles.

How do I care for a kittel?

Cotton-polyester blends are machine washable on cold, hang dry. Pure cotton is better dry-cleaned. Never bleach — it yellows the embroidery.
