Machzor Set in Antique Taupe Leather, Kaftor for Kallahs #1547
Pickup at both Lakewood stores
Description
Taupe antique leather on the #1547 frame, made up as a Kaftor for Kallahs machzorim set. Taupe sits between grey and brown — warmer than the grey, cooler than the camel — and it is the neutral that does not commit to either family. That is precisely why it gets chosen: it goes with whatever a woman is wearing to shul on Rosh Hashanah without anyone having thought about it.
The Kaftor machzorim are used across both days of Rosh Hashanah and through Yom Kippur, held for hours at a stretch. The antique finish on a mid-tone leather like this handles that better than either extreme; it is dark enough not to show handling and light enough that the tonal variation in the finish stays visible.
The #1547 design extends to siddur covers, haggadah covers, zemiros booklets and Chanukah pieces. Taupe is an easy color to build a shelf around for exactly the reason it works in shul — it does not lock you into a palette.
