Black Ice by M. Jakubowicz, Hardcover

When Mr. Rubin's company sends him to the South Pole for a month-long research project, his family comes along. Homesick and cut off from friends, his daughter longs for hot water and privacy, and soon a string of sinister events rattles the family. M. Jakubowicz's 179-page hardcover asks whether it can all be coincidence.

She shivered, feeling the coldness of Antarctica creep into her bones, although she was safely indoors.

"I want to go home," she whispered.

Her family was here, but she was oh, so homesick. She wanted to be back in her house, with its abundance of hot water and good food and privacy. She wanted to be able to call her friends, to go to school like any other girl her age - to be anywhere but here. She was stuck, with nowhere to run, and the realization made her sick to her stomach.

When Mr. Rubin's company sends him off to the South Pole to conduct a month-long research project, his family goes along. But their stay on the icy, isolated continent is like nothing the Rubins could have expected.

As the Rubins acclimate to their strange new setting, a string of sinister events rattles their peace of mind. Are these incidents coincidental...or is someone out to get them in this faraway land?

Follow the Rubins on their fascinating yet fear-inducing expedition to the coldest, driest, and iciest continent in the world. As they fumble on the ice and try to make a kiddush Hashem even under tough circumstances, they make some shocking discoveries, while also learning valuable lessons about the importance of family, hashgachah pratis, and the power of tefillah. Black Ice is a thriller that will keep readers entertained until its satisfying conclusion.
