Gartel Bag, 8 x 8 Square Malchut Design #840

An 8 by 8 inch pouch carrying Malchut design #840. The embroidery vocabulary is the same one used across their tallis bags — the same kind of line work and the same approach to filling a panel — scaled down to a square that fits inside a bag rather than being one itself.

Function first: a gartel rolled into a dedicated pouch keeps its shape and its ends stay clean. Loose in a tallis bag it works itself open, wraps around a siddur, and the ends get worn from rubbing against a zipper every week. The 8 inch square takes a rolled gartel without compressing it into a flat disc.

Design #840 is also made in the tallis and tefillin bags, and that is the argument for ordering this rather than a plain pouch. When the bag, and the gartel bag inside it, carry the same number, the set reads as one thing.
