Description
It Happened in Prague is part of Ruth Zimberg's Jewish History Comes Alive series for young readers. Jews first came to Prague more than a thousand years ago, and there they built a famous shul called the Old-New Shul. But is it old or is it new? Readers learn how a shul built on the site of an older one got its unusual name.
Real photographs show the shul's entrance, its interior and the Jewish quarter around it, and the story follows the building through attacks, fires and wars as it kept standing, ending with Prague today, a glossary and a map. Jews still daven in the Old-New Shul, making this a living piece of history for young students.
