Maasei Avos Siman L'Banim Vol. 3

Torah perspectives on personalities, episodes and periods in Jewish history, gathered here in the longest volume of the series.

Volume 3 is the heavyweight of Rabbi David Cohen's series. At 462 hardcover pages it carries considerably more material than the slimmer volumes, which makes it the one to reach for when you want to sit with the sefer over weeks rather than dip into it for a single piece.

The approach throughout is the one the title announces: history is read as instruction, and personalities and periods are examined for what they say about the way Hashem conducts the world with His people. Rabbi Cohen writes for a reader who wants sources, not summaries.

Practically, the length changes how the sefer is used. It holds enough for an ongoing chaburah or a weekly shiur, and it stands up as a standalone gift for a talmid chacham even if the recipient does not yet own the other volumes. 6 by 9 inches, hardcover, from ArtScroll Mesorah Publications.
