Description
Design 335, clear lucite, single height, cut as a tabletop stand for one sefer. It is the companion number to 334, built the same way at the same height, and the choice between them comes down to the detailing rather than to function.
Where this earns its keep is anywhere a proper standing shtender will not fit or is not wanted. It goes on a dining room table for a night seder, on a desk in an office for a few blatt between meetings, on a table in a shul that has run out of shtenders, or in a dormitory room where floor space is already gone. It is light enough to move with one hand and clear enough that it is not an object in the room when it is not being used.
Lucite has one practical advantage over wood here beyond the look: it wipes clean. A shtender that lives on a dining table gets coffee and crumbs on it, and a clear surface takes that without the marking that shows on a finished wood one.
