Description
The Modde Collection puts fur against fabric, and #651 is the antique velvet version — a velvet given a rubbed, aged finish, edged in fur trim, embroidered and set with sterling crystals. Antique velvet does not sit flat and even the way new velvet does; it carries depth and slight variation across the surface, which is why the fur reads as a natural border rather than an applied decoration.
Three sizes: small at 14.5x17.5, medium at 15.5x19.5 and large at 19.5x23.5. The fur border takes up a fixed amount of the edge regardless of size, so on the small it frames tightly and on the large it runs as a broad band. If you want the fur to be the first thing seen, take the large.
A challah board is made in the same 651 design, and there is a matzah cover as well. Board and cover together is the standard pairing here, and the Modde look is distinctive enough that a half-matched table is noticeable to anyone sitting at it.
