Description
Antique velvet in the Solitaire line — a velvet given a worn, rubbed finish so the color sits unevenly across the surface, embroidered and set with sterling crystals. The Solitaire designs are cleaner and more open than the heavily worked collections; the embroidery frames rather than fills, which is exactly why the antique treatment on the fabric has room to be seen.
Three sizes: small at 14.5x17.5, medium at 15.5x19.5 and large at 19.5x23.5. Antique velvet drapes with weight, so the large falls properly over the sides of a long board instead of perching on top of it. The small is a good everyday cover and shows the fabric's variation just as well at close range.
A challah board is made in the same 685 design, along with a matzah cover. Antique velvet is not a finish that turns up on many boards, so a matched pair here looks noticeably deliberate — and the matzah cover carries the same fabric through to the Seder without a second thought.
