Description
In The Music of Shabbos, singer Yaakov Shwekey joins author Yisroel Besser to explore the sounds and meaning of Shabbos. Shwekey shares memories of his parents' Shabbos table, where Syrian and Vizhnitz melodies mingled, and reflections from his own table with his children.
Yisroel Besser explains the meaning of each zemer, weaving in words of Torah and inspiration from gedolim. The book includes the full text of the zemiros, pizmonim and Bircas HaMazon with English translation. It was released together with a separate album of more than 100 Shabbos songs produced by Doni Gross.
