Description
What is the role of "light" in the Written Torah, the Oral Tradition, Kabbalah and Chassidic teachings? What is "the light of God" and how is light connected to holiness, purity and love? What are the intriguing patterns and paradoxes that weave their way throughout the biblical and rabbinical usage of the word "light"?
In this volume, the author explains how "light" in the Jewish tradition is a magnet for notions of duality and unity. Learn about fascinating aspects of light such as:
- The gematria of light equals 207. It is literally the mirror image of Shabbat which equals 702!
- Light seemingly possesses no material substance, yet it is all-pervasive and all-encompassing when manifest.
Rabbi Avraham Arieh Trugman has been involved in Jewish education for over thirty years. He has been regional director of NCSY in Denver, Colorado, and, since returning to Israel in 1995, he serves as the director of Ohr Chadash: New Horizons in Jewish Experience.
