Zecher L’Maaseh Bereishis takes the everyday observation of an animal and makes it avodas Hashem. Built on the Chovos HaLevavos’ call to reflect on creation, the series shows how every creature — from the smallest mammal to the mightiest beast — demonstrates Hashem’s chochmah, koach and chesed.

Volume 1 opens the series with mammals, working through 50 to 75 carefully selected aspects of creation, each one chosen to awaken recognition of the Ribbono Shel Olam’s presence in a corner of His world we walk past without noticing.

Rabbi Efraim Rosen writes from fifty years of learning Chovos HaLevavos and years in chinuch as a rebbe, which is why the volume reads as well at a Shabbos seudah as it teaches in a classroom. As Rav Avigdor Miller zt”l put it: “Just as we speak at each Yom Tov seudah about the essence of the day, we are expected to speak at the Shabbos table about the essence of Shabbos: a remembrance of Creation.”
