Description
Rather than filling the black velvet, design 218 frames it. The gold embroidery is laid as a panel around the edge, leaving the centre open so the velvet itself carries most of the front. The effect is cleaner than the densely stitched bags in the 200 range, and it wears its age well because there is less thread to catch.
The three sizes are the bar mitzvah bag at 10.5 by 10 inches, the large talis bag at 14 by 14, and the extra large at 16 by 16. The open centre is what makes this one popular with buyers who intend to have a name added later; there is room on the face for lettering without crowding the embroidery. For a full tallis, the 16-inch gives the most working room.
