Description
A swirl-quilted inset is set into black crushed velvet on design #450. The swirl runs in curves rather than the straight diamond lines most quilting uses, and against the broken grain of crushed velvet it creates a surface that changes noticeably as the bag turns. There is no embroidered motif at all — the texture carries the whole design.
Four sizes are offered: the 8.5" x 9.5" tefillin bag, supplied without stones, the 10" x 10.5" bar mitzvah bag, the 14" x 14" large talis bag and the 16" x 16" extra large. The two smaller sizes hold a single pair of tefillin; the two larger take a tallis with tefillin alongside.
Black crushed velvet is a practical everyday surface. It disguises marks, it does not show the shine that flat velvet develops where a bag is gripped, and it stays appropriate for weekday and Shabbos alike, which suits a man who wants one bag rather than two.
