Description
This is design 220 worked in silver instead of gold. Same layout, same symmetry across the black velvet, but the silver thread reads cooler and sits closer in tone to the ground, so the pattern is legible without being the first thing anyone notices. Some men prefer it precisely for that reason.
The bag is cut at 10.5 by 10 inches for bar mitzvah, 14 by 14 as a large talis bag and 16 by 16 extra large. Silver is the natural choice if the tallis has a silver atarah, since the two sit together on the same bench without clashing. A bochur getting tefillin takes the 10.5 by 10; a man who has just started wearing a tallis takes 14 by 14 or 16 by 16 depending on the weight of the wool.
Candle lighting pieces and lucite items are made in design 220 as well, in case the pattern is going to be used for more than the bag alone.
