Description
Grey velvet is the unusual part here. Almost every bag in this range is black or navy, and design 230 puts the gold embroidery on a grey ground instead, which softens the contrast considerably. The gold does not jump the way it does against black; it settles into the velvet and reads warmer and more muted.
The three sizes are the 10.5 by 10 inch bar mitzvah bag, the 14 by 14 large talis bag and the 16 by 16 extra large. Grey is worth thinking about for a man who finds black bags interchangeable on a crowded shelf at shul — it is easy to pick out at a glance. For a bar mitzvah bochur the smallest size is the tefillin size and the one to order.
Design 230 is also produced as a bencher cover, a challah board and a challah cover, which is one of the widest matching sets in the range. A grey and gold Shabbos table built around the same design is genuinely achievable here.
