Description
Design 240 runs a gold embroidered motif down the front of the black velvet rather than spreading it across the width. That vertical emphasis makes the bag look taller than it measures, and it leaves the sides quieter, so the thread work reads as one deliberate stripe of ornament instead of an all-over pattern.
Choose from the bar mitzvah bag at 10.5 by 10 inches, the large talis bag at 14 by 14 and the extra large at 16 by 16. Because the design runs down the face, it holds its proportions at all three sizes; some patterns look stretched when they are scaled up to 16 inches and this one does not. For tefillin alone the smallest size is right, and it is the standard bar mitzvah purchase.
Matching challah covers and lucite pieces are made in design 240, so the pattern is available for the table as well as for shul.
