Description
The gold embroidery on design 252 runs in vertical bands down the black velvet, evenly spaced, with velvet showing between them. It is closer to a striped face than a pictorial one, and it reads as ordered and quiet from a distance while still showing a good deal of thread work close up.
It is offered in the bar mitzvah size at 10.5 by 10 inches, the large size at 14 by 14 and the extra large at 16 by 16. Banded designs scale better than centred ones, so the 16-inch version looks as considered as the small one — worth knowing if you are buying the large size for a full wool tallis. A bochur getting tefillin takes the 10.5 by 10.
Design 252 is also produced as a bencher cover, which is an easy addition if the bag is going as a bar mitzvah gift.
