Description
Design 710 begins the 700 range with a tall gold embroidered panel running up the black velvet. The panel is vertical and centred, its edges clearly outlined in heavier thread, and the velvet on either side stays clear so the shape holds against the ground.
It is cut at 10.5 by 10 inches for bar mitzvah, 14 by 14 as a large talis bag and 16 by 16 extra large. Vertical designs like this one suit the taller proportions of the bar mitzvah bag particularly well, and they scale up to 16 inches without looking stretched. A man carrying a heavy wool tallis wants the 16-inch; a standard tallis goes comfortably into the 14.
A challah cover is made in design 710, so the panel can be repeated on the Shabbos table if the bag is going as part of a larger gift.
