Description
Gold embroidery fills the whole front of design 723, a heavier version of the 720 layout with the outline work replaced by solid stitching. Where 720 draws, 723 fills, and the difference on a black velvet ground is considerable — this one reads as a gold bag rather than a black one with gold on it.
It is offered in three sizes: 10.5 by 10 inches for bar mitzvah, 14 by 14 for a large talis bag and 16 by 16 for the extra large. Fully embroidered bags carry the most presence at 16 inches, where there is enough face to justify the thread. For a bochur, the bar mitzvah size holds a single pair of tefillin with the boxes properly protected.
It is a bag for a man who wants it seen, and it holds that quality for many years rather than fading into the bench.
