Description
Design 773 takes the crown of the 770 and lifts it above a broad embroidered base, so gold runs along the lower part of the bag and the keser rises out of it. On black velvet the result reads as two layers instead of one flat panel, and the band along the bottom gives the face weight exactly where the bag is carried.
The size choice is really a question about the tallis. A bar mitzvah bochur with a smaller tallis is well served by the 10.5 by 10; a man with a standard wool tallis takes the 14 by 14; and if the tallis is a large one, the 16 by 16 is the sensible order, because a bag that is slightly too big never causes a problem and a tight one does.
Gold on black is the safest choice a buyer can make here. It sits correctly in any shul, it does not go out of fashion, and it works as well for a chosson receiving his first full tallis as it does for a father replacing a bag he has carried for years.
