Description
Where 780 leaves velvet showing between the curves, 783 fills the floral pattern out to the seams. Gold thread covers most of the black velvet face, so from a distance the bag reads gold with black beneath it rather than the reverse. It is the more ornate of the two and the one to pick if you want the bag noticed on the bench.
The bar mitzvah size is 10.5 by 10, the large talis bag is 14 by 14 and the extra large is 16 by 16. On a densely embroidered design the larger sizes give the pattern room to open up, which is worth knowing if you are deciding between the 14 and the 16 and do not have a tallis-size reason to choose.
Heavy gold work of this kind is often bought as a chosson gift or for a bar mitzvah where the bag is meant to be the visible present. It carries tallis and tefillin together the same way the plainer numbers do.
